Abstract | An article about the difficulties to retain higher ranking female officers in the US Air Foce. The Air Force has no difficulty recruiting or retaining women officers up through captain. But from then on, retention declines rapidly, with women making up a smaller and smaller portion of the force as they rise up the ranks and begin to choose between their Air Force careers and bearing and raising children. In 2018, the percentage of women among the Air Force’s general officers was just 7.7 percent compared to 26.5 percent of all officers. |
