Abstract | In this work, the authors set themselves the task of conducting a qualitative study called "mapping ethnic conflict in the Americas". In this work, they found indigenous peoples in struggle with various national and transnational actors, and with the governments of all the nation-states of the American continent. In the characterization of ethnic conflict, rebellion against the State is low; there are numerous indigenous mobilizations, but these do not make widespread use of violence and threats. On the other hand, indigenous interests are greatly affected: there is evidence of damage and violence against the population, their property, territories and natural resources. Exclusion and discrimination also persist. The ethnic conflict in the Americas involves indigenous activism that has made visible innumerable damages and threats, as well as the demand for recognition and inclusion. [Translated from author] |
