Abstract

Known as the epicenter of one of the longest episodes of violence in contemporary history, Colombia recently attracted the attention of the international community after initiating a series of dialogues with the FARC guerrillas for the end of the conflict and, more particularly, for the inclusion of a cross-gender approach to the agreement. It is within the framework of the situation described above that this TFM is born and that, during the second year of the negotiation phase, a gender subcommission was created that included in a transversal way the recognition of the role of women in war and the importance of guaranteeing their participation in the construction of a stable and lasting peace for the country. That said, this master's thesis focuses on analyzing the Colombian context, delving into the origins of violence and the state of women's political participation in the country to try to decipher if what has been achieved with the agreements of the FARC is the beginning of a solid path towards the inclusion of women and what is the future perspective in this matter in the implementation phases. The research path proposed and the theories about social movements have allowed us to conclude that, if not for the pressure of the groups and women's organizations and the accompaniment of the international community, the gender approach included in the Peace Agreements of Colombia would not have materialized. In this regard, we will refer to the development of this document, in which we will also mention the roles that the Colombian women's movement could play in possible post-conflict scenarios and why its inclusion in the negotiation tables is relevant in the Colombian context.
