Abstract

Freud (1981) considered that war required the psychological mass for the efficient action of the assembled individuals to be carried out. Undoubtedly, for war to be organized and effective, it requires the meeting of people who advance and modify their individual behavior for the same objective, for the same ideal, and that, in such a meeting, the individual is capable of actions that by themselves just could not carry it out, either because in solitude he questions them, he judges them inadequate, or because he does not feel empowered to do them. This chapter in the book Avatares del desarrollo psíquico de la mujer maltratada (Transformations of the Psychic Development of Abused Women) looks through this framework into the experiences of women during war.
