Abstract

This book describes the formation of an independent military jurisdiction in the early modern age and the mechanisms through which the various armed forces of the old continent administered justice in order to maintain order. The book provides some ideas for further research on the emergence of the fuero militar in some European realities, from the territories of the Spanish Monarchy to the Empire, to some of the Italian States of the ancien régime. In the field of studies dedicated to the formation of the administrative-judicial apparatus of the early modern age, little attention has always been devoted to the aspects inherent in the formation of an independent military jurisdiction and the mechanisms through which the various armed forces of the old continent administered justice in order to maintain order.
