The documentary on Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821) begins in 1769 with Napoleon’s birth on Corsica, and follows his through his military victories in Italy and his crowning of himself as Emperor in 1804. Napoleon experienced first major military and political victories which gave him control over Europe on the height of his power in 1810 and later dramatic military defeat between 1812 and 1815. He spent the rest of his life writing his memoirs from his prison on St. Helena. David Grubin, producer of five presidential biographies and multiple series for PBS, is the producer, director, and writer of Napoleon. Grubin is an independent producer, director, writer and cinematographer whose work in film and television has brought him many prestigious awards, including eight Emmys and three Writers Guild Awards.
