Abstract

LeMO - Lebendiges Museum Online is the most important German online portal on German history developed by the Stiftung Deutsches Historisches Museum, the  Stiftung Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland and the Bundesarchiv. Maps, images and other media including videos, documents, objects, biographies of important individuals, and  eyewitness reports are together with explanatory texts organized along an interactive timeline. LeMO covers the period from the early 19th century to the present in chronological chapters that refflect the most important political periods from the German Federation and the German Empire, the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich to the two post-war Germanies. Its multiple sides and subjects invite users to discover and explore German history.  LeMO learning and the LeMO search include together a total of more than 9085 pages: that include 900 chapter pages, 5,500 object pages, 50 videos, 900 biographies, 600 contemporary witness contributions, 200 documents and 200 year chronicles.
