Das Geheimnis unserer Großmütter: Eine empirische Studie über sexualisierte Kriegsgewalt um 1945

At the end of the Second World War, mainly in a  short period of the winter and spring of 1945, an estimated number of two million women in German Central Europe were severely traumatized by rape. These experiences of sexual violence was  private and for a long time a social taboo for the public. This study explored the experiences of a generation of women by interviews with survivors that  are embadded in a careful analyis of the aftermath of the experience of sexual vieolence. Impressive and emotionally moving quotes from  these interviews make the study an interesting read.
