Adapted from a 1917 play by Lajos Biro, Five Graves to Cairo offers a fictional account of Allied success in the Second Battle of El Alamein during World War II. The lone survivor of a British tank crew seeks refuge in a near abandoned hotel. When Field Marshall Erwin Rommel appears, the British soldier adopts the persona of a German spy. His intelligence reports provide the Allies with the locations of Rommel's supply reinforcements, but his actions bring tragedy to a French woman.
