Abstract

Documentary filmmaker Claude Lanzmann spent eleven years tracking down and interviewing survivors, perpetrators, and complicit witnesses of the Holocaust. Instead of archival footage or photographs, interviews provide sharp, devastating, and moving visuals of death camps at Chełmno, Treblinka, Auschwitz-Birkenau, train travel transporting Jews to their death, and life in the Warsaw ghetto. The anti-semitism behind the Holocaust still lingers in these accounts.
