Created by the Mémorial de Caen and supported by UNESCO, this digital exhibition was created in 1998 to honor the 80th anniversary of the Armistice of November 11, 1918. Containing 110 paintings representing a range of styles and schools collected from museums across Europe, the exhibition contains an informational apparatus about the artists and their work created by by art historian and exhibition curator Philippe Dagen. Users can browse the various thematically organized collections on total war, the battlefield, suffering, and death, as well as by a section organized by artist.
