Over 5,500 WACs staffed the Army's Southwest Pacific Area Theater administrative offices during World War II. Without them Headquarters could not have moved from Australia to Manila, since few clerically skilled men were available to handle the office work. This is the story of a WAC clerk typist and her friends who served in the advanced section of the Transportation Corps Headquarters and were among the first WACs to land in Hollandia, New Guinea, Tacloban, the Philippines and Manila
