This volume is the story of Dianah Kwiatkowski, a 47 year-old Catholic nurse, wife, mother and grandmother from Ohio who joined the Army Reserves in 1990 to obtain an advanced degree. Only a few months later she and her fellow medics found themselves deployed to Saudi Arabia to serve in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Her memoir, as told to Sandra Warren, recounts her experiences serving as a medic as well as her homecoming and readjustment to life in America.
