Abstract

Blockade is a 1938 American drama film directed by William Dieterle, relaying a love story amidst political battles and armed conflict during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). Marco (Henry Fonda), a Nationalist farmer, falls in love with Maria (Madeleine Carroll), an upper-class woman and mercenary spy's daughter. They work together to prevent a blockade of local food supply.
