Abstract

This collection of letters of Marcia Behr (1917-2012), born in Syracuse who was edcucated as an actor and dancer. During the Second World War, she served in the American Red Cross in Australia and New Guinea. Upon her return from overseas, she worked for the New York City theater producer Alfred de Liagre, while she auditioned for roles on Broadway. But as fate would have it she met Edward A. Behr, a journalist with the Wall Street Journal, on a blind date and within a year they married. After their two sons were born, they moved to Washington, D.C. where Marcia continued to work in theater, both performing and teaching.
