In this visually creative film noir, an American mercenary and a young woman must navigate shifting allegiances during the Chinese Civil War. On a train to Shanghai, O'Hara and Judy Perrie meet. He is arranging to smuggle arms to peasants and authorities in a province controlled by a warlord, while her goal is to stop his mission and protect her father's interests in that province.
