| Abstract | Ana María Martínez de Nisser (1812–1872) and her husband were supporter of the government of Colombia during the so-called War of the Supremems from 1839-1841. When Maria's husband was taken prisoner, she herself decided to fight and joined the army of Braulio Henao and fought bravely in the decisive Battle of Salamina, for which she was honored by her country. Her published diary covers the period she was in the army. |
