Abstract

Widely regarded as one of the best World War II film released after the conflict, Battleground explores the horror and the humanity of war during the Battle of the Bulge. A company in the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army faces hunger, exhaustion, and confusion. The winter conditions of thick fog, frigid cold, and snow exacerbate their deteriorating mental state and ability to defend their position against advancing German troops.
