Abstract

Mardin, 1915: One night the Turkish Gendarmerie drive together all the Armenian men. The young blacksmith Nazaret Manoogian is separated from his family. While he manages to survive the horrors of genocide, it's not until years later he receives the news that his twin daughters are alive. Obsessed by thoughts of finding them, he follows their trail. It leads him from the deserts of Mesopotamia via Havana to the barren, lonely prairies of North Dakota. On his odyssey he meets the most different types of people: from angelic and kind characters, to the devil incarnate.
