Abstract

Interviews with French women who fought in the Resistance during World War II. Although it gives a particularly large place to the struggle of communist women activists, this small book gives a good idea of the very diverse paths that brought women to the Resistance. A number of women, explains Simone Bertrand, belonged to Resistance organizations. But how many of them did what they were asked, what they had to do, stand up against the German who was occupying hard? The women reacted from the beginning, retaliated with their practical sense, they organized the reception of the refugees, the reception of the hunted. Young girls performed these perilous services (transporting leaflets and clandestine newspapers) on bicycles pulling heavy suitcases.
