Abstract

An installment of Sergei Eisenstein's revolutionary trilogy, Strike is loosely based on a group of Russian workers who asserted collective ownership of their factory and town when they protested working conditions in 1903. The company's lockout causes devastation to the townspeople, including hunger. The state governor sends in the militia, executing the striking workers en masse.
