Abstract

This film focuses on French citizens and German soldiers near the end of World War II in occupied France. In the spring of 1944, in the forest of La Woëvre, in Lorraine, a group of young maquisards, French guerrilla resistance fighters, welcomed four German deserters. Neither side is portrayed as hero or enemy, avoiding the tropes of war films.
