Abstract | Designed with students and teachers in mind, Seventeen Moments in Soviet History has enjoyed the support of Michigan State University and Macalaster College, as well as the National Endowment for the Humanities. It provides users with a digital sourcebook on the whole period ranging from the February Revolution of 1917 to the dissolution of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991. Divided into sections based on a year and then into thematic subsections, the site offers students or teachers a brief introductory essay on the theme written by an established historian, as well as digital primary sources sorted by type: texts, all of which are translated into English, as well as images, sound, and film. The site also contains a glossary of key terms and people names. |
