Die “Generation der Kriegskinder:" Historische Hintergründe und Deutungen

The 'war child generation' has been the focus of public attention in Germany since the late 1990s and especially since the 60th anniversary of the end of the war in 2005. The two books by journalists Hilke Lorenz and Sabine Bode, Kriegskinder (War Children) and Die Vergessene Generation (The Forgotten Generation) published in 2003 and 2004, contributed to the proclamation of a new generation in line with the media. This volume deals with the background and the mechanisms of the generation building of the "war children generation" and attempts to trace the very different experiences, meanings and interpretations of so-called "war children" from a historical perspective.
