Abstract

From the rescue of Jewish children to "liquidation" of Gestapo spies, from the production of false documents to the transport of weapons and information: from France to Poland, Jewish women become actively involved in the resistance against the German occupation and "final solution". In a comparative study Ingrid Strobl first investigated the participation of Jewish women in the resistance in German-occupied Europe. Using archive footage, letters and diaries, and the nearly sixty-depth interviews that she had with former Jewish resistance fighters from across Europe, it illuminates a hitherto hidden chapter of history of World War II and the Holocaust.
