Abstract

In 1950, sixteen-year-old Lorissa Nossowa and her mother, refugees of the Nazi concentration camps, found themselves in the beautiful, peaceful valley of Emmett, Idaho. For the next 60 years, Lorissa did everything she could to put the horrors of World War II behind her, even going so far as to not read others memoirs or see any movies related to the war. Now in her 70s, Lorissa bravely confronts those memories and tells her story in the hope that it will help future generations understand and avoid repeating the terrors of that tragic time of human history.
