This edited volume explores the history of the Bavarian district Salzachkreis, occupied by Napoleonic forces since 1809, during Napoleon's Russian campaign in 1812. Authors explore not only the fate of the Bavaran soldiers who had to move with Napoleon's army to Russia starting in June 1912 and of whom only a small number returned in the winter of 1812-13, but also of the civilian at home.
