War Memorials: From Antiquity to the Present

This volume, an extended history of war memorials, examines the depiction and memorialization of war from ancient times to the 20th century and illustrates how these various memorial types were taken up and adapted by the memorial builders of this century. The study of 20th century memorials is based mainly, but not exclusively, on British examples. The volume aims to construct a framework, for both past and present, to place these memorials in their context.
