Gender, Citizenship and Subjectivity: Some Historical and Theoretical Considerations

This special issue in the thirteenth volume of the journal Gender & History aims to explore the implications of these critical conceptions of citizenship for the historical study of gender and citizenship across a range of regions, nations, and historical settings. In addition to historicizing the politics of gender, race, and location in the studies collected here, this issue also probes the notion of citizenship as subjectivity.
