Abstract

In this broad volume about women's liberation and feminist discourse, this chapter analyzes Nazi Germany'sĀ gender and race politics, demonstrating how racism structured and perverted the meaning of equality and difference during the Holocaust. The author argues that, while Jews and Gypsies of both genders were equal in their "difference" from Aryans, gender-specific practices - from eugenics to employment to the death camps - strongly shaped Nazi treatment of victims and Aryans alike.
