Abstract

Allonsanfàn is a 1974 Italian historical drama film written and directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani. The title of the film, which is also the name of a character, comes from the first words of the French Revolutionary anthem La Marseillaise. Set against the backdrop of the Italian Unification in early 19th-century Italy, it stars Marcello Mastroianni as an aging revolutionary who becomes disillusioned after the Bourbon Restoration (1814-1830) and tries to betray his companions, who are organizing an insurrection in Southern Italy.
