Abstract

This television miniseries presents a dramatization of the life of Sidney Reilly (1873-1925), one of the most famous spies in the history of modern British espionage and the eventual inspiration for James Bond. In this miniseries, Reilly (Sam Neill) infiltrates the German General Staff in 1917 and nearly overthrows the Bolsheviks in 1918. The miniseries follows his exploits until his arrest, imprisonment, torture, and execution at the hands of Bolshevik agents in 1925.
