Abstract	In this propaganda film based on real-life events, eight young women join the Volunteer Army to the Japanese in the puppet state of Manchukuoto during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945). In 1938, they created a rear-guard campaign that allowed the Chinese army to escape from battle. Rather than surrender to the Japanese, the women enter the river and drown.
