Abstract

In this propaganda film based on real-life events, eight young women join a volunteer army to fight against the Japanese in the Second Sino-Japanese War. In 1938, they created a rear-guard campaign that allowed the Chinese army to escape from battle. Rather than surrender to the Japanese, the women enter the river and drown.
