Rwanda: Beyond the Deadly Pit

In this cinema verité documentary that explores loss and trauma, filmmaker Gilbert Ndahayo confronts those who murdered his family and slaughtered 200 Tutsis in his village during the Rwandan Genocide. Nearly ten years after this event, the exhuming of a mass grave allows Ndahayo and other survivors to bury their loved ones with dignity. Public hearings also let them confront those who killed their families, some of whom had personal relationships with the dead.
