Director Haile Gerima connects the past to the present in his internationally-acclaimed, sci-fi exploration of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. After high-fashion photo shoot, a black American model wakes up on a southern plantation nearly two hundred years in the past. Her experiences as an enslaved woman show her search for liberation, community, and connecting to one's roots to cope with her new reality.
