The women's concentration camp, Ravensbrück, served as a central training camp for female concentration camp staff between 1942 and 1944. More than 3,500 SS officers kept the camp system running in their mostly low ranks. They allowed crimes, or took part in them. Who were these women and how was their participation in the crimes committed after 1945 legally punished? How did surviving prisoners deal with the memories of their tormentors? In what ways was female perpetration traded in the public memory, but also in the family memory and in the neighborhood of the former women's concentration camp?
