Abstract

This groundbreaking, five-part documentary challenges conventional depictions of war and peace by focusing on women's experiences. Rather than focus on nation-states, military systems, and technologically-advanced weaponry, war for women centers on sexual violence, economic marginalization, the loss or refusal to grant rights, and drug wars. The documentary criticizes the proliferation of small arms in the post-Cold War era that make these intimate acts of violence more prolific. Addressing women's war traumas also reframes the terms of peace and expands the scope of international law.
