Abstract

Th largest force continually engaged against Napoleon was not the British army and Wellington, but the Imperial and Royal Austrian Army led by Archduke Charles, contends this volume. The volume shifts the traditional academic focus of the Napoleonic wars to the forces that inflicted the first defeat on the French and participated in all the Continental wars of the period.
