Abstract | During the Vietnam War, a group of female American peace activists decided to take matters into their own hands and meet with Vietnamese women to discuss how to end U.S. intervention in Vietnam. These U.S. activists solicited Vietnamese women's opinions and advice on how to end the war and looked toward them as models for their own lives, viewing them as paragons of a new womanhood and a means by which to discuss their own subordination within their communities and U.S. society more broadly.
