Abstract

The Historical Library of the Complutense University of Madrid is the second largest library in Madrid in terms of volume of pre-19th century books. The bibliographic collection is made up of some 6,000 manuscripts, 740 incunabula, and a volume of printed matter from the 16th to 18th centuries that is close to 100,000. It also has a small collection of loose engravings and books of prints. It's collections include the libraries of the Colegio Mayor San Ildefonso (founded by Cardinal Cisneros), Reales Estudios de San Isidro, the Royal College of Medicine and Surgery of San Carlos, the Royal College of Pharmacy of San Fernando, the School of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Diplomacy or the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando. the Countess of Campo de Alange, Juan Francisco Camacho (1817-1896), Anastasio Chinchilla (1801-1876), Rafael Conde y Luque (1835-1922), Antonio Hernández Morejón (1773-1836), Pedro Sáinz de Baranda (1797-1853), Julian Sanz del Rio (1814-1869), Luis Simarro y Lacabra (1851-1921), Rafael de Ureña (1852-1930), José Simón Díaz, etc. The website interface is in Spanish.
