Abstract

In April 1994, after the airplane of the Hutu President of Rwanda was shot down, Hutu militias started to slaughter the Rwandan Tutsi population. This film tells the wrenching story of the ensuing genocide through the eyes of a Catholic priest and an English teacher who work at the Ecole Technique Officielle, located in Kigali. The two men lodge 2,500 Rwandan refugees under the protection of the Belgian UN force while under siege by the Hutu militia. When the UN force eventually abandons them, the priest and teacher must watch in helpless horror as the refugees are murdered by the militia.
