Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze, from a gender perspective, the representation and use of the female figure as an iconographic element in the Republican poster production during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). In this sense, the function of the poster is considered a means of mass communication at the beginning of a the 20th century, in which other media such as radio or television were yet to be fully developed.
