The film only has two characters, soldiers, one American the other Japanese marooned on an uninhabited Pacific island during World War II. It contains little dialogue, and is not dubbed or sub-titled, thus authentically portraying the difficulty of restricted communication between the Japanese-speaking and English-speaking characters.
