Women’s Autobiographies by War Periods
This site gives users access to collection of women’s autobiographies organized by major war periods. In includes autobiographies written by women who actively participated in or lived through an armed conflict covered by the Oxford Handbook of Gender and War since 1600 edited by Karen Hagemann (General Editor), Stefan Dudink and Sonya Rose (Oxford and New York: Oxford University Press, 2018). The focus of the collections is the twentieth century, because most autobiographies written by female authors were published in this period. The selected autobiographies are mainly written and/or published in English, French, German or Russian.
