Abstract

The article examines the experiences of the Non-Combatant Corps (NCC), who were conscientious objectors (COs) conscripted to serve within the British Army during 1940-1945. Topics discussed include total number of civilian men and women in the Home Guard who pledged to defend Britain with arms in the event of invasion, treatment of objector of the First World War, and explanation on temperate masculinity.
