| Abstract | Based on almost eightthousand letters by British war widows, written between 1971 and 1992, this journal article explores their situation after World War I, and II, their struggle for recognition and better pension provisions. One important theme is the lobbying of the War Widows' Association. The letters and additional archival and press material help to create a picture of the ev everyday situation of British war widows after both conflicts. |
