Abstract

This journal article from 1989 by Renato Resaldo argues that the portrait of imperialism in recent movies tends to be nostalgic and not realistic, especially in respect of race and the way white supremacy worked. The article analyzes the movies Heat and Dust (Britain 1983), A Passage to India (Britin, US, 1984), Out of Africa (USA, 1985), and The Gods must be Crazy (South Africa, 1980).
