Abstract

This article by Alon Confino refelects the state of theoretical and methodological debates on the history of collective memory  and discusses the state of research.  He argues that to write a history of memory, we need to draw the mental horizon of an age. When and why did memory become a habit of mind shared by people to give meaning to the past?
