This battle movie by Jean-Jacques Annaud portrays the German siege of Stalingrad, the Russian sniper, For the Soviets, the fall of Stalingrad meant the collapse of the whole country. The Germans and Russians are therefore fighting over every block, leaving only ruins behind. The Russian sniper Vassili Zaitsev, stalks the Germans soldiers, taking them out one by one. As German morale plummets, German master sniper, Major König, arrives to hunt Zaitsev down and Zaitsev is forced to draw on deep reserves to protect his country and live up to the expectations his countrymen and the Communist Party project on him.
