Abstract

Controversial during its production and release, R.A.S. pulls from first-hand accounts to document the horrors of the Algerian War through the perspective of three reluctant French reservists. After experiencing a psychologically and physically taxing re-training, the reservists confront the horrors of this war. The French used rape, torture, and summary execution to quell the Algerian rebellion, tactics that were concealed from the public and remain a source of controversy to this day.
